Scuba and Snorkeling on the Osa Peninsula

If you want to snorkel, our reef is right nearby. There are also other snorkeling options within the Golfo Dulce, many of which can be tied into other tours, such as heading to the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary or up the Rio Esquinas. (Please keep in mind that this is not the Caribbean – snorkeling is lovely, but, alas, not World Class.)  See below – snorkeling in the Golfo Dulce with Whale Sharks!

On the other hand…Scuba Diving is!  Head to Caño Island near Drakes Bay for some great diving. You leave our lodge at 5:30 am and take a stunning two hour taxi ride through the Osa to Drakes Bay (optional charter flight at around 6:30 A.M., a bit more costly of course). In Drakes you jump on La Paloma’s great dive boat or a Pirate’s Cove dive boat, and head out toward Caño Island, often spotting dolphins and whales en route. Once at Caño you set up for two dives. There are six possible dive sites which include deep canyons, impressive landscapes, and lots of big fish as well as small. Few have ever dived there without seeing a shark or two, often many. You will be led by a certified dive master and he or she requires open water certification. You will return to Drakes Bay around 3:30 in the afternoon.
