We love to surf! We have a fast small break right out front, that the young local surfers love. There are a variety of other surf breaks in Matapalo – and one that is particularly great for beginners.
For the novice there are great surf lessons offered, for example by Pollo’s Surf School and Eddy and Michelle’s Surf Lessons – they both guarantee you will stand up of your money back! There are a couple great spots to learn to surf, with great spots for beginners, as well as sections to match your level of ability. The learning area is a forgiving wave that makes learning fun and the water is a wonderful 83 degrees. Whether you are 5 or 78, it is a dream wave to learn on. Surf companies provide lycra surfing shirts and professional soft top boards.
You can also enjoy the World’s Largest Left Hand Wave in Pavones, just across the bay. Hop on a skiff, and surf it up.
Right off our beach, we have sweet little fast break too.
There are a couple spots to rent surf boards in the area as well, including Eddy and Michelle’s and Keilor’s Surf Store in town.
